All of us hurt. All of us hope. All of us love.
All of Us Strangers, directed by Andrew Haigh, is now available to stream on Hulu.
All of Us Strangers is a story of queer identity, familial abjection, and emotional isolation. It is a portrait of intimacy intermingled with grief. It’s a film that holds you tightly but cuts deep, reopening scars so that underlying, festering wounds might heal properly. It’s a stunning showcase of love’s power to hurt and heal.
It is, without a doubt, one of my favorite films released in 2023. It is the only film that left me sobbing in the back row of an AMC theater — remarkably high praise from a stone-hearted bastard like me.
All of Us Strangers will not be released on physical media, so be sure to stream this heart-rending, life-affirming masterwork while you can.
I’ve kept this week’s missive brief. You do, after all, have a movie to watch.
